From daddy’s desk – What is a breast pump to you?

What a crap day today. Stayed up till the wee hours of the morning going through work. Had an important discussion this morning with my brain half asleep. Then, I get the news that wifey just agreed to loan her breast pump to someone else. Boy was I incensed! Yup, I am very particular who our things go to.

Maybe it is just me but I have always considered a breast pump similar to a toothbrush. A personal item. I know some of you may say that after sterilisation, everything is as good as new. For these people, can I borrow your toothbrush and return it after sterilising it? Same logic isn’t it?

Worst thing is that this particular person who requested for the pump used the lack of money as a reason for not buying one herself. Tell me, since when did SJMC patients have no money for a breast pump?

Seriously the stingiest person on the planet. She gave Braedyn a pack of Drypers M nappies for his full-moon. For her new-born, we gave her a RM50 ang-pow and a very, very fancy RM60+ dress from Mothercare. See, we are such nice people.

Before you all think I am a monster, please bear in mind that No. 2 is coming in 3 months’ time. I won’t give a hoot if we are totally done with the breast pump.

Arrrrgghhh!!!! Some people are just leaches. Suck me dry, financially and mentally.

I can understand your frustration. Once my friend ask me to lend her my breast pump, I had the same reaction but I lend it to her just not to dissapoint her. Hehe…just think towards the positive side, you will feel better.

Do you know that hospitals do cater for Breast pump rental? Another friend told me that she rented it herself and according to her, it’s silent and much faster in extracting the noutritious milk. πŸ™‚

For me, I am willing to loan anyone who wants to use the breastpump, especially those moms who are eager to breastfeed and poor. I see the importance of breasfteeding rather than $$.

I see breastpump not as a toothbrush, I see it as a juicer. It can be wash, parts can be replaced and no contact with any saliva, unless someone decided to lick it. Just my opinion. πŸ™‚

no.2 is already on the way? so fast? congrats yea!

i dont see any problems in lending ppl my breastpump. I’ve lent it to a good friend of mine. and I will continue to lend it to any of my close friends if they need it. i dont see it the way you do though…and it’s not analogous to a toothbrush! LOL! and i agree with mybabybay,,i see it as a juicer πŸ™‚ what a good way to put it.

anyways….what’s wrong with giving drypers as a full moon gift ah? my friend gave ashley a huge pack of diapers from Pampers for ashley’s full moon though…it;s not the value of the gift that counts..it’s the thought that counts ma….:) well..that’s just how i feel la…hope you dont take offence in my comments today yea! πŸ™‚

I’ve lent my pump to few of my friends too, since it’s not directly contact with mouth so i think should be no problem to loan it to somebody who needs it.

Don’t angry, since your wife already agreed so don’t make her sad lol! πŸ˜†

I’m not sure how I’d react if someone were to ask me to lend her my breast pump. I think I may think twice before lending it to her lah. I won’t exactly put it in the same page as a toothbrush, but I don’t know? Will get back to you on that, yah? Anyways, chill! Since your wife has agreed, just close one eye lah? Don’t let those so-called leeches affect you. Have a good day! =)

hehe..oops..I’m sure u’ll hate me for that. I’m loaning a breastpump. First one, I loaned cause bought the one that is not so good and I only bf for 4 months (my loaner was michelle). 2nd one, I told myself, if boy I will loan, if girl I’ll buy (cause if girl 3rd one needs to come), so again i loan from a friend.

I make it a point that I will take good care of it, and of course that person is not in production then I pinjam lerr…I returned to her lately since her sis was about to give birth and in return gave her a mooncake voucher worth RM38. And I got another loan unit from my buddy in singapore. No problem one lah so long as that person takes good care of it. But make sure when 2nd one comes, get it back πŸ˜‰

If you’re still irk about it, just tell the loaner to get additional pump cups. That way, you can make sure yours is still yours and hers will only touch her boobies. And since #2 will be here in 3 months, just let her know you guys will need it once she’s here. No biggie la! There are always ways to make things go your way. πŸ™‚

I see a breast pump as a very personal item too..
So I can only bring myself to loan it to someone close, like my siblings. Any one else, it’ll make me cringe thinking something personal is going to that person.

I don’t mind once I’m done though, but if I’ll still be using it, it’s hard for me to part with it.

Cant comment cos no one has come to us to request a loan for breast pump. But I guess we would only loan it to our sister in laws and not anyone else.

Breast pumps nowadays are not very expensive what.
