From daddy’s desk – My diaper discovery

Don’t know if others have noticed but Tesco recently launched another addition to their home brand “Tesco” diaper range.

Tesco usually have 3 categories for their home brand; those coming in from the UK (good quality at not much lower prices), those which sport Tesco’s red and blue logo (Malaysian-sourced products and priced so low, they are usually crap), and a mid-range (also sourced in Malaysia but better packaged and pricier than their red-blue packaged offerings.

To my great joy, Tesco’s new diapers (not the usual red-blue variety) at first glance bear an uncanny resemblance to Drypers. Same type and sized packaging, same sized diapers, same no. of pieces per pack, same batch numbers, same feel. Brae’s usual XL60 is priced at RM31+ per pack compared to Drypers RM35+. We usually wait for Drypers to sell at their offer price of RM30 or RM32 before we buy the maximum 2 packs allowed per trolley but it is such a hassle having to rush to the hypermarket before stocks run out.

We bought a pack of this new Tesco diapers and can safely conclude that Drypers contract manufactures for Tesco. No more mad rush to the stores for sale prices. Same quality at a lower price. Now, if only Tesco can get Mamy Poko to manufacture for them as well.

Hmm, so Brae is using XL, huh? The airline provides free diapers for our trip home but when they asked what diaper size I need, I was clueless ‘cos they are in S, M, L, XL. The diaper sizing in the states is so different! I guess I’ll need to call ’em to change the size M to XL now.

So, I am not alone in sourcing for cheaper diapers ๐Ÿ™‚ My girl uses Pampers XL60 & the cheapest I can get over here is RM33.50.

Hehe, we’ve tried a few brands before sticking to Huggies (I like Huggies because of velcro tapes) Drypers is our back-up plan, but to be honest, Huggies’ pampers are a tad bigger in size than Drypers. We also use the Pampers All-Night and so far so good! =)

Brae is wearing XL already? :O
Zara is still wearing M only.

I switched to Huggies from Drypers b’cos as Zara gets older, the sticky tape that comes wiht Drypers become less practical, as sometimes I need to check if Zara’s diaper is due for a change and once the sticky tape is untaped, it losses its stickiness.
