Confinement nanny stories

Wifey now wants a confinement nanny because she is sure she is unable to cope with Braedyn and No. 2. My fears aside, can everyone here share their personal good/horror stories or those of their relatives/friends. To date, I have not heard of a single good story of the ideal confinement nanny. Please give me some hope.

Hubby’s birthday celebration

Hubby’s birthday is on 22nd November (I got to know that Shoppingmum and Carelessmum‘s birthdays are on the same day!). We had a normal dinner with the immediate family at Riblees located at Sri Hartamas. Apparently Riblees is famous for their pork ribs, recommended by hubby’s friend. It was so difficult to locate the restaurant as it only had a very small signboard but we found it after asking around. It is located across the road from Burger King/Projet on the 1st floor above the new Arabic bank.

At first, this wifey of Daddykhong wanted to bake a cake for the occasion but she didn’t manage to do it (excuse: no time 🙂 ) (daddykhong: no time….no taste!!) Fortunately, on the day itself I made an appointment with my sister to jalan-jalan at 1-Utama and at the same time looked for a cake for hubby. If not, I wouldn’t have a chance to buy a cake because I usually go out with hubby and I am sure he will not let me buy him a cake.

I always have the cravings for Bakerzin’s cakes. I looked at their cakes, hoping to find a birthday cake for hubby. I found one which I liked, Mango Mousse cake. Furthermore, the cake was a good size, not too big and not too small. Unfortunately, the cake was already reserved.

I almost gave up buying until the girl told me that they could make the similar cake on the spot but I had to wait for 30 minutes. I was so delighted to hear that. The girl took down my number so that she could call me once the cake was ready to be picked up. To pass time, sis and I walked back to the car to get milk for Brae. Within 20 minutes (and before we even got to the car), the girl called me and said that the cake was ready. I was impressed!

We arrived at the restaurant at 8:10 pm. To our surprise, we were the only customers that night. They gave us very good service since we were the only customers there. The lady boss came over to chit-chat with us and even gave us two complimentary home-made Cookies & Cream ice cream cakes. The boss’ 2 1/2 year-old daughter, Sara liked Brae so much that she kept feeding Brae water from his water bottle. I suppose she wanted a younger brother to play with.

Sorry lah dear, no present for you…only a cake. Happy belated birthday! Hugs hugs and kiss kiss from Brae and wifey.

The lucrative confinement business

We paid a visit to Pei Ling last weekend to sign up for their confinement food package. They have recently relocated to their new premises opposite the Taman Bahagia LRT station.

Brand new bungalow with a 2-storey block at the front housing the Pei Ling business and a 3-storey block at the rear where the boss and her family live. Massive place (for my standards) with classy furnishing to convince any fool brave enough to walk in to sign on the dotted line. They even have interest-free plans with Citibank and Maybank to hoodwink us that we are only paying RMxxx a month instead of RMxxxx lump sum.

Fortunately, wifey was smart enough to ask them for the specific plan she wanted, else we would have had to sign up for one of their all-in-one packages, half of which she wouldn’t use anyway.

I think we should all quit our day jobs and start a confinement practice.

Braedyn is fat when…..

  • Doctor tells us to “give him less meat”
  • People on the street ask us what brand of formula we give him (maybe we could earn some endorsement fees!)
  • Ba-Ba cannot carry him for more than 10 minutes
  • A friend says, “I bet he’s on Enfalac”
  • Drypants XL (which is the largest size available) seem tight for him
  • He is 1 year old but we are buying him clothes for 2 year olds
  • Most importantly, Ba-Ba’s car cannot accelerate as quickly as it used to (ok lah…..mum’s partly to blame as well)
  • Ba-Ba’s car headlights seem to be on high beam when they are not

From daddy’s desk – Braedyn…now that he’s 1

At what point in time does a child’s personality come out? The personality that he/she will exhibit for the rest of his/her life? I hope it is not when the child is 1 year old because that would mean that Braedyn will be a spoilt little brat with a hot temper to boot.

Of late, he loves to scream, cry, thrust his chubby legs, the lot, every time we stop him from doing what he’s doing or wants to do. In the bedroom, his favourite would be to find a way to get off the bed and crawl towards our wardrobe (with sliding doors). He will make his way to the left (mum’s) side, grab the door and give the door a S-H-O-V-E, watch as the door wobbles shakily (what to do, Ikea wardrobe not meant for rough use!) towards the right (dad’s) side and wait for the WHAM before rushing over to the right to repeat the fun. Left, right, left, right x 10 times. I cringe each time the door reaches the end of the rails and the wardrobe groans.

Occasionally, he will slide the door open, make his way to the lowest drawer, pull it open and empty all the contents onto the floor. Does the fact that it is always the drawer where mum keeps her feminine items mean something? Sanitary pads, panty liners, even the maternity pads from SJMC (which I don’t understand why mum still keeps) all over the floor in a matter of 10 seconds.

Brushing his teeth

It used to be a joy teaching him how to brush his teeth. I offer him his brush, he takes it, I start brushing my own teeth while carrying him with my right arm, he follows suit and brushes his teeth. Sometimes, he drops his brush and grabs mine to help me brush my teeth.

Now, he just refuses to brush his teeth, my teeth or anything else for that matter. Any attempt to stick a brush into his mouth will end up with him giving us his famous temper tantrum. Braedyn, next time when your teeth all turn yellow, don’t blame Ba-Ba, ok?

Feeding him outside

These days we have to ensure that our ordered food arrives AFTER he has eaten his own food. Once any plate of food is placed on the table, Braedyn would automatically reject food from his container. Naturally, temper tantrum time comes when we don’t comply.

What to do? Any advice? It looks like Braedyn’s the boss now.  I sincerely hope his bad temper improves else I may require counselling myself.

Genting trip

Genting trip

We went to Genting on 9th November 2006 after hubby was off from work. Hubby managed to get hold of a free one night stay voucher at First World Hotel in Genting. It was a long overdue trip to Genting as hubby had promised to bring me there since I was pregnant with Brae. It has been a year long!

At first, I thought of letting Brae have a try at the cable car to Genting and at the same time, we can give our tired car a rest midway up the hill but daddykhong would have none of that. He charged all the way up the hill and we arrived with literally smoking tyres.

I am sure everyone has heard of the pigeon hole rooms at First World and we were looking forward to that. Much to our amazement, the room wasn’t that bad. Maybe because we have low standards and maybe also due to the fact that it was free!!

After we dropped everything in the room, we quickly went out to look for a place to have dinner since it was already 7pm. We walked around before we settled at Ho Mei. Since I didn’t prepare Brae’s food, we ordered a Sar Hor Fun soup for him. He finished most of it. The price was quite reasonable, considering it’s Genting. After the meal, we went for a walk around the place. We thought of letting Brae try out the Genting Skytrain since that’s the only thing that he/we could ride on. However, we scrapped the idea after seeing no individual ticket counter for that and we had to pay the full price of RM40+ per pax.

It was 11pm+ when Brae fell asleep in the stroller. Since he was sleeping, we settled at Starbucks. Hubby took the opportunity to check his emails (yes, even though he says his mind is not at work, I knew he was lying through his teeth) while I was caught up with my newspaper reading. We went back to our room after Brae woke up.

We woke up around 10am the next morning. We checked out before we went to have breakfast at Hainan Cafe. There, the food variety was atrocious and they were not cheap either. A set of roti bakar and a cup of coffee/tea cost RM9+. After that, we walked around outside the plaza before we decided to make the drive back down to KL.

It is nice to go for a trip, just the 3 of us before our 2nd baby is out.

Bad news & Good news

Bad news

All this while, I’ve been using WordPress to upload the photos for all my posts. I always thought 50 MB of storage space for the photos was enough for me. Unfortunately, I recently received a message “You have exceeded the limit….” when I tried to upload a photo for my post. Darn!!! Now I’ve fully utilised the storage space given. What should I do? I have a Flickr account but everytime I try to upload photos, it will pop up a message “Document contains no data“! Not only that, I receive the same message when I try to upload videos to my Google Video. I HATE that stupid message!!! 😡

I searched high and low for a solution using all sorts of search engines. They talked about security lah, blocked by cookies lah, firewall lah and blah blah blah. Therefore, I tried to disabled Zone Alarm and Avast but to no avail. I even deleted all the cookies on my PC. I also tried uploading on other computers. All failed! So frustrated! My other option is to get my own domain name for my blog so that I don’t have to depend on third parties for the storage of the photos. Furthermore, I have full control over what I want to put on my blog. The only problem is I have to pay for it and the main concern is the transfer of data and photos. Basically, I have to do the housekeeping all over again. I just migrated from Blogspot to WordPress. I really don’t have the time to do it. Spending just a couple of hours in hubby’s office and not to mention having to keep an eye on our lil’ champion isn’t enough for me to do the migration.

Now I have to delay my 2 backdated posts…..

Good news

Since hubby is so anti-Telekom, I just have to wait for an alternative internet line for our house. Finally, my dream came true when hubby found out that Maxis Wireless Broadband was available at our housing area. Hoorraay!!! Hubby quickly went to sign up for the line. They came to install the line yesterday.

The first thing I did was to test the photo uploading. This time, I tried to upload through Flickr and it worked! No more stupid message and it was fast! I was so happy that it wasn’t the laptop system configuration or software problems. Hmmm…perhaps it’s the Streamyx problem at hubby’s office. (daddykhong: Streamyx having problems everywhere lah!)

Now, I can surf net and read all the updated blogs at home. The most important thing is that I won’t have that stupid message again, I hope.

I better finish off my 2 backdated posts…. 😀
