The lucrative confinement business

Tuesday, November 28, 2006 1:59 am at 1:59 am 12 comments

We paid a visit to Pei Ling last weekend to sign up for their confinement food package. They have recently relocated to their new premises opposite the Taman Bahagia LRT station.

Brand new bungalow with a 2-storey block at the front housing the Pei Ling business and a 3-storey block at the rear where the boss and her family live. Massive place (for my standards) with classy furnishing to convince any fool brave enough to walk in to sign on the dotted line. They even have interest-free plans with Citibank and Maybank to hoodwink us that we are only paying RMxxx a month instead of RMxxxx lump sum.

Fortunately, wifey was smart enough to ask them for the specific plan she wanted, else we would have had to sign up for one of their all-in-one packages, half of which she wouldn’t use anyway.

I think we should all quit our day jobs and start a confinement practice.

Pei Ling is VERY EXPENSIVE!!!!! got many other confinement ladies ard.. cost u min 2600 max 3000++ kua…

Do you have the details of other confinement service providers? We are looking specifically for people who provide confinement food, not the nanny. I do know that there is another all-in-one provider similar to Pei Ling but I do not have their details.

Good luck with Pei Ling’s food.
I catered during Zara’s time, since we kicked the CL out of our house the 2nd day. Didn’t like it. It was
    1) Very expensive I think it costs us like RM60/day exc transport
    2) They were using cheap fish (they said they use good fish, but I got was small ikan kurau or mayao, and small pomphret, all of which if you do your own marketting, it’s very cheap fish).
    3) The food was too oily for my liking
    4) The food was delievered every morning to our hse at 10am, for lunch and dinner
We catered for 30days but ended up asking them not to send any more on 20th day, when we asked for a refund, we got some really tough time, and they even charge us some RMXXX for admin fee for pulling out before the last day.

We opted for Pei Ling during Braedyn’s time as well but we found the food acceptable. Yes it was oily but since wifey is Hakka, she drinks oil as if its water! Only grouse is that around day 20, she got really sick of the food I got VERY sick of cleaning up the leftovers. It would be good to have a choice of who we could opt for.

I don’t have confinement lady for both babies, and MIL cooked for me. The rest, makan sendiri. It’s very tiring especially for 2nd baby as I needed to attend to Justin as well as I didn’t want him to feel jealous and reject baby.
I’ll recommend you find other sources for the food since Zara’s mama complained already. 🙂

Since they are quite a fair bit of compliant, there is still room for other bizmen to penetrate.

Why all of a sudden cater to confinement food?

I used Pei Ling services recently and it’s a nightmare! They are not customer friendly at all and the confinement lady I got doesn’t seem to know what she was doing.

My husband and I were really frustrated with the confinement lady provided and added unneccesary stress during these really tiring period of time.

There are so many things that we were unhappy about on Pei Ling services that it would be too long to list it here. In summary, they sucker you into their services and charge unnecessary fees. I mean my confinement lady left us and they dare to charge us a fee for that!!!!

End of the day, please do ask properly of Pei Ling services if you ever go there… They don’t come recommended at all!!!!

Darn pissed at Pei Ling services….

Just found another confinement food delivery service – SHLCare based in Kepong. No. is 6251-6133. Quoted me RM2,400 for 30 day plan. Anyone ever tried this? Would appreciate feedback.

I have to agree with all. I just wish i had read this blog before signing up with Pei ling.

Our baby cant be bottle feed or given pacifier. And after all the guarantees given, pacifier and bottle were given during night time. My wife caught them red handed and yet they still want to deny.

We moved out the next day.
