Damn the relatives

Braedyn sure had a horrid 2nd Chinese New Year. Well, he was too young to remember anything or to have a part in any of the games his other young friends played the first time round.

This year, he smiled at everyone, took all ang-pows offered to him with his grubby little hands then proceeding to scrunch them up into little balls, and had a little piece of mandarin orange every time daddy had one. Don’t tell mummykhong this, he even enjoyed the last few drops of shandy from the can after daddy was done with it (not my fault, he grabbed the can from me and wouldn’t let go).

All his fun dissipated on the 2nd night of Chinese New Year. Why? I’ll tell you why. It’s because daddykhong has dim-witted, 1/2-brained, kampung-styled relatives who seriously need a crash course in basic common sense, manners, and perhaps a brain implant!

I brought Braedyn to my uncle’s open house in Bidor (this uncle is a very showy fella, opens his “palace” to all on the 2nd night of CNY without fail). Wifey and Shayanne stayed at the in-laws place in Tapah. We were sitting in the porch just inside the gate when suddenly my hero cousin’s teenage son decided to light some bombastic firecrackers which could probably pass off as WMD (Hey Bush…..you’re looking at the wrong place. It’s China which is making all the WMD you so crave for!) You know the kind that comes in a cube and lets off a loud BANG, followed by 5 or 6 other loud BANGS. Each god-damned BANG sounding as if a gun went off inside your head.

I JUMPED, my relatives in their 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s sitting on the same table as myself also JUMPED and Braedyn went MENTAL. Seriously M-E-N-T-A-L. I don’t want to describe it because the thought of him freaking out still brings shivers to my spine.

After the xx numbers of BANGS, I picked Braedyn up, stormed out of the house and drove back to the in-laws place vowing NEVER to visit that crummy house in Bidor again. Dim-witted fools, the teenage kid, his parents and his grandparents for not giving him any brains and teaching him some basic common sense. And I thought it was only our Malaysian politicians who exhibited these qualities. I guess if MCA Cawangan Bidor wants a member, my teenage relative will make a good candidate.

Now our little boy is scared of the dark, jumps at every sound, hangs on to my arm when we are stationary at the traffic lights (something he has never done before), and cries for no reason in the middle of the night.

Geez, that is so sad. Some people just don’t think before they do things. And to let fireworks go without informing the crowd is totally unforgivable, seeing that there are little kids around. Hope Braedyn recovers from his shock soon 😦

I stumble upon your blog (forget which link, linked me here) and an interesting word caught my attention…Bidor.

A place I thought very few people know its existence.

Ya, sounds like a familiar scene in Bidor and few neighboring town during CNY. We will juist have to avoid those places with firecrakers monster since not some of the time, it’s not within our control to ‘stop’ the menace
Thanks for dropping by. I thought Bidor was the popular town among the small towns there all thanks to Pun Chun.

: ) Excuse me for my broken English. Was distracted when posting up the comment and did not double check my “writing” (typing in this case)

Good to know Bidor is making its way to fame, saving the trouble to explain where it is and that it is around Ipoh area :p

Your Brae is very cute, indeed a “big” boy for his age.
